Associate Teacher position in Room 12. Congratulations Brenda!

Great Resource for Parents!
John Rosemond is coming to Southern Pines! Don’t miss the opportunity to hear
him speak on the topics of “Parenting the Strong-Willed Child” and “The Keys to
Effective Discipline.” John Rosemond teaches logical, proven approaches for the
most significant challenges parents face today. From issues such as self-esteem and
discipline to television and chores, his straightforward guidance will facilitate a
return to parent-centered families where children are raised into responsible adults.
Plan to attend on January 30th and 31st!

PARENT PARAGAPH
The following is from Jennifer Jones who is a parent and also works at Sandhills
Children’s Center as the Child Enrollment Assistant.  Her son, Noah, is one of our
miracles.

Ya know, it's crazy how everyone seems to measure their life's worth by numbers. For instance,
all through school (most) people try to achieve the best grade possible. Then there's always the
highest pay, the most friends, etc. I realized today that it's really not the numbers that are
important but what you take with you along the way.

In preparation for his upcoming IEP meeting, Noah was given a speech and physical therapy
evaluation today. I knew he would come out relatively low as far as his numerical scores were
concerned so I really wasn't surprised when his PT told me that Noah's age equivalence on one
his tests was 7-13 months. This wouldn't sound so bad if Noah weren't turning 3 in less than
three months. But the truth to the matter is that those are simply numbers. The awesome part of
this whole thing is that Noah did something today he's never done...and he did it on his own
will without being forced!! Noah scooted down the 3 or 4 steps in the therapy gym on his
bottom! This is a huge step for a little guy that not even 6 months ago would look at stairs and
just begin to whine. Again, just another testament to his amazing teachers and therapists at
Sandhills Children’s Center! We are truly blessed over and over again.
